Vanderbilt University faculty, postdocs and staff who use REDCap, the secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases, can set up new projects within our own VU REDCap instance beginning Oct. 13, 2025. This instance is exclusively for university users and retains the same look and functionality as the version previously accessed through Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Please refer to the login and migration instructions for additional information on the next steps. VU projects should be migrated no later than April 15, 2026.

REDCap, which stands for Research Electronic Data Capture, was created by Vanderbilt Professor of Biomedical Informatics Paul Harris and launched by the Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research in 2004. It has since been utilized by approximately 3.8 million users from nearly 8,000 institutions across 163 countries for about 2.4 million projects. Although REDCap is versatile enough to collect any type of data in any environment, it is specifically designed to support online and offline data capture for research studies and operations.
