Note: "Users" are not automatically transferred via the Migration Tool. To transfer users, please download any "DAGS," "User Groups," and "Users" from the Applications menu. Users that have already logged in to the VU instance will transfer. We recommend that users establish their VU instance accounts before exporting from the VUMC instance.
- Login to the VU instance (https://redcap.vanderbilt.edu)
- Click on "New Project"
- Select “Enter a project migration key” then click on “Get Instance ID”
- Save the instance ID which will be needed later in the process. This ID is the same for all projects you are migrating to the VU instance.
- Login to the VUMC instance (https://redcap.vumc.org/index.php?action=myprojects)
- Go to a project you wish to migrate
- If you already have an API key you can skill this step. If you do not have an API key, click on API and then generate API token.
- Click "Home"
- Select "Other Functionality"
- Scroll down and click on "Project Migration Tool"
- Select everything you want to migrate (if you are not sure what to select, select everything). NOTE: It is recommended that you manually copy your list of users.
- Click "Generate migration key"
- Go back to the VU instance and enter copied migration key into VU REDCap instance.
- Review and select "Create"
- Click "Create" again.
- Your project will be migrated in the background. Please give some time for this process to complete.
- If your project needs to be in "Production," make sure that you put it into "Production" on the VU instance.
- Once you are positive that your data has migrated correctly, return to the VUMC instance and under the "Other Functionality" tab, click "Mark Project as Completed."
