Photographic portrait of Glenn Allan Millikan. Glenn A. Millikan joined the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine faculty to head the Department of Physiology in 1946. He was educated in Chicago, at Harvard University, at several German universities, and at Cambridge University, England. Before assuming duties at Vanderbilt, he had taught and lectured at Cambridge, Cornell University School of Medicine, and the Johnson Foundation of Biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania. His research included war research on high altitude flying and studies of the metabolism of living muscle cells.
