FAQ Updates for Fall 2020

Hours

Peabody Library will be open for quiet study and materials pickup Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. This is subject to change, and any updates will be announced on the Peabody Library website. You will need to bring your Vanderbilt ID to swipe in.

Study Space

Quiet study spaces are available in Peabody Library, with more extended hours offered in other libraries (see updated hours here). Due to capacity requirements and physical distancing, Peabody Library study spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

When visiting Peabody Library, please adhere to all university guidelines for physical distancing and safety, including wearing a mask at all times. More information can be found on the VU Return to Campus website.

Book & Library Materials Checkout

Books can be checked out from the Peabody stacks, Youth collection, and Curriculum Materials Center. Download the checkout@VandyLibraries mobile app (Google Play/Apple) and use our contactless checkout via your mobile device. Alternatively, you can use the iPad kiosk at the service desk for self-checkout. Instructions will be posted in the library.

Note: Curriculum material kits (items with multiple pieces) will need to be checked out remotely; follow instructions on signs posted in the Curriculum Materials Center. Tests will continue to be available by request only.

Central Library and the Anne Potter Wilson Music Library will have a select number of laptops available for checkout. Please contact Peabody Library if you have additional needs related to laptop or other equipment access.

Library Staffing & Services

Library staff will be working on a mostly remote basis for the time being.

The majority of the libraries' database resources are available remotely. A select number of licenses for SPSS and STATA are available remotely through VMWare (instructions are available here).

Library workshops and programming will continue in a virtual setting; watch the Peabody Library website for details.

Printing

Printing is available at Peabody Library as well as other libraries on campus. It is highly recommended that you use the Mobile Print app, for touchless printing.
