FAQ: Peabody Library

Hours

Hours for Peabody Library, and all other locations in the Vanderbilt Libraries can be found here. Visitors can use the library during designated hours, and will need to use the main library entrance (facing the Peabody Esplanade). Note that some University holidays or other factors may affect building access, and that the Libraries do have some extended hours for authorized Vanderbilt University card holders only.

Study Space

Quiet study spaces are available in Peabody Library, and can be reserved online. When study rooms are not reserved, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Food and drink is allowed in the Library.

When visiting Peabody Library, please adhere to all university guidelines for safety. More information can be found on the VU Health and Safety Protocols website.

Book & Library Materials Checkout

Books can be checked out from the Peabody stacks, Youth collection, and Curriculum Materials Center. You can bring items to the service desk (on the 2nd floor) to check out, or you can download the checkout@VandyLibraries mobile app (Google Play/Apple) and use our contactless checkout via your mobile device. Alternatively, you can use the iPad kiosk at the service desk for self-checkout. Instructions will be posted in the library.

Note: Curriculum material kits (items with multiple pieces) cannot be checked out via the app; these items will need to be checked out at the service desk. Tests are available by request only.

Please contact Peabody Library if you have any questions or concerns related to borrowing library materials.

Research Support

To schedule a research consultation with a librarian, contact your Peabody subject librarian to make an appointment, or email peabodyreference@vanderbilt.edu.

The majority of the libraries’ database resources are available remotely. A select number of licenses for SPSS, SAS, and STATA are available remotely through VMWare (instructions are available here).

Printing

Printing is available at Peabody Library as well as other libraries on campus. It is highly recommended that you use the Mobile Print app, for touchless printing.
