Library services support the research and teaching missions of Vanderbilt.

Support for Research

The library provides access to premium content, databases, journals, primary source material and data that support the breath of research disciplines across the university.

Librarians with subject and discipline expertise provide information consultation services, help faculty identify information sources and keep current with research. Assistance with authors’ rights, open access, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and data curation are available through the library’s office of Digital Scholarship and Communications (DiSC).

Knowledgeable staff provide faculty delivery and Interlibrary Loan services. Faculty may make purchase suggestions, as well as authorize a surrogate borrower.

Support for Teaching

The Vanderbilt Library Instruction Program partners with faculty and instructors to teach the research skills necessary for foundation of lifelong learning that ensures the success of learners in the 21st century. The information, visual, media, and digital literacy concepts at the center of the library’s instruction program provides students with the skills they need to become successful critical thinkers, effective communicators, and productive citizens.
