About Faculty Delivery Service
The Vanderbilt Libraries provide faculty with deliveries of library materials and interlibrary loans through a single service. Faculty and Faculty Proxies are eligible for delivery services.
Faculty Delivery Service is available for Arts & Science, Divinity, Engineering, Management, Music, and Peabody faculty. The Law School Library provides service to Law School faculty directly, and the Biomedical Library offers a separate document delivery service for Medical and Nursing School faculty.
For fastest delivery: log into the Library Catalog, find the item to be delivered, and use the "Deliver" button to request a loan or copy of the item of interest. In general, delivery will be completed within four working days. Some items, such as materials in storage, may take longer to deliver, and we will contact you if we expect a substantial delay.
Requests may also be initiated by utilizing the Findit@VU service, which is found in many library databases. Submitting a new Interlibrary Loan request initiates a delivery.
Articles are scanned and delivered electronically.
Circulating items will be delivered to you on campus, generally at your department's office. Once delivered, library materials are checked out to the borrower, and may be reviewed in the borrower's Acorn account. Your book delivery preferences are stored with your ILL user account information, so you need not specify on your request form.
Please note that only circulating materials are delivered. Noncirculating items will be placed on hold for you, and we are also happy to scan a specified portion (article, chapter, etc.) for electronic delivery.
Tips and Other Information
If a requested item is not immediately available in the Vanderbilt Libraries, we will obtain it through other means, such as interlibrary loan, item recall, or rush processing.
If you request a large number of items, or don't use the online forms to submit requests, processing will of course take longer.
