About the Project
Speak Up for Science is an initiative of Vanderbilt’s Communication of Science and Technology program aimed at highlighting the importance of federal funding to drive scientific discovery. Fellows participated in interviews with Vanderbilt researchers across a variety of disciplines who describe how federal funding has impacted their work and – more importantly – how the public has benefited from that research. In the fellowship, students researche key scientific initiatives across the university and identified footage from Vanderbilt’s Television News Archive (TVNA) that could be used as supplemental footage (otherwise known as b-roll) for the Speak Up for Science interviews.
