Vanderbilt Visions

Racing Across Campus

Racers

Need to learn your way around campus? On your mark, Get Set...

GO! In this 50-60 minute session the group will be divided into 4 teams who will compete in a race through the Vanderbilt Campus. They will use various geographic resources which will direct them to several stops along the way, and at each stop they will collect a necessary item to complete the next leg of the race. In the course of the race each group will see and learn about various aspects of the campus: emergency phones, walking bridges, plant life, artwork, academic buildings, and more. They will find several of the libraries and learn how to check an item out from the circulation desk. The race begins on the Commons Center Patio.

Students will use written walking directions, a map of campus, and a global positioning system to guide them through the 4 legs of the race.

**VUceptors MUST sign up for this session by Noon on the Friday before the meeting at the latest.**
This is to insure that GPS units are charged and available for your session and to receive the race routes to print out for the group. You will also recieve the VUceptor guide and a link to a map of the race routes. To sign up, email Jacob Thornton at jacob.thornton@vanderbilt.edu .
