Today's Vanderbilt students can participate in a variety of sports at the collegiate level, from football and basketball to cross country and golf. Male members of the Class of 1912 didn't have quite the same variety, but they did have the basics: football, basketball, and baseball. They also had track and a gym team, which appears to have been some sort of gymnastics team. In 1911, the male students also formed an aquatic club for swimming and crew. Options for female athletes were extremely limited. Athletically inclined female students could join the girl's basketball team.
