Richard G. Stearns Papers
Overview


Professor Richard G. Stearns took over as Chair of the Geology Department at Vanderbilt University in the Spring of 1967, upon the retirement of Professor Willard Jewell.

During his career, Professor Stearns did work for Standard Oil Company, worked on a study of the Cumberland River crater for NASA with Professor Charles Wilson, and studied the formation of soils from rocks and river erosion.
