Peabody Education Fund Collection

Overview

 


The Peabody Education Fund was established to raise money for the George Peabody College for Teachers.

The Peabody Education Fund Collection, includes correspondence (1881-1918), subject files pertaining to the establishment and growth of the fund, pamphlets on education, and the proceedings of the trustees (1870-1907). The collection is 4 cubic feet, about half of the collection is correspondence. Major topics of interest include the establishment of the Peabody Education Fund, the early years of the Peabody Normal College/George Peabody College, education, and rural elementary schools.
