The Special Collections Library recently acquired a collection of book illustrator Barry Moser’s works.  Moser, who operates Pennyroyal Press, is a nationally recognized illustrator who won the American Book Award for design and illustration in 1982 for his Alice Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.

Barry Moser was born in 1940 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After schooling in Tennessee, he found his way to New England where he began honing his craft.  He currently has more than 300 titles published and is in wide demand for his illustrating skills.

The purchase by Special Collections marks the first time the library has bought a collection via auction.  The Moser works include books, proofs, variant printings, and elephant folios of some of his finest works.  The library is cataloging the collection which will be available for research by mid-December.
