Paul Hardacre Papers

Paul HardacrePaul Hardacre was a professor of history at Vanderbilt University from 1948-1985. Born August 25, 1915 in Los Angeles, California, Paul Hardacre did his undergraduate work at Stanford University and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles. He was an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt from 1948-1951, Associate Professor from 1952-1955, Full Professor from 1956-1980, and Professor Emeritus in 1981. Paul Hardacre retired in 1985.

Scope and Contents

The 14 cubic feet collection includes Paul Hardacre’s research materials, teaching materials, correspondence, maps, student papers and dissertations, grade books, and assorted news publications related to the Vanderbilt history department and historical associations. The materials in the collection reflect his specialization in British history. The collection also contains Paul Hardacre’s dissertation The Royalists during the Puritan Revolution, 1642-1660. Student dissertations are listed by student name and located in boxes 11-13.
