Andrew Nelson Lytle Papers (Addition)
1853-1995

Series V. Academic Career, 1965-1990
Box 20

The fifth series covers the academic career of Andrew Lytle and includes information that concerns classes, programs, recommendations, The University of Florida, and The University of the South (Sewanee). Most recommendations were written by Lytle when he was a professor of English and editor of the Sewanee Review at The University of the South. Included within this series is a 1978 certificate of membership awarded to Lytle by Phi Beta Kappa for "high attainments in liberal scholarship." Also in this series is a program for a function held in honor of Andrew Nelson Lytle titled "A Celebration" in 1982. The program list patrons in attendance as well as toasts and speeches given by Robert Penn Warren, Donald Davie, Cleanth Brooks, Walter Sullivan, Stuart Wright, and Thomas R. Ward.
