This project covers the 32 preparatory schools in Tennessee that made a significant contribution to Vanderbilt University. The schools, seven of which are still operating today, span more than a century. The first two — Montgomery Bell Academy and the McTyeire School — were founded in 1867. MBA, Battle Ground Academy, Brentwood Academy, the McCallie School, the Memphis University School, the Webb School and the University School of Nashville are still operating.
