Francis Keese Wynkoop Drury Collection

 

Francis Keese Wynkoop Drury was born 9 Feb 1878 in Ghent, New York. After attending Rutgers Prepatory School in New Brunswick, NJ, Drury received his BA from Rutgers University in 1898 and his BLS at the University of Illinois in 1905.

He taught at Cayuga Lake Military Academy and at the Flushing Institute (NY) in 1898. He served as librarian and lecturer at the University of Illinois, Brown University, and as city librarian in Nashville, TN. While residing in Nashville, he also taught in the library school as a visiting professor at George Peabody College. He published several books, pamphlets and reading guides as well as editing several books of plays. He was active for many years in The Community Playhouse in Nashville, acting in several productions as well as acting as treasurer.

He married Martha Blanche Walker in Evanston, IL on 28 Aug 1907.

Drury died in Nashville, TN on 3 Sep 1954.

The Francis Keese Wynkoop Drury Collection consists primarily of travel guides and pamphlets collected during Drury's career.
