Welcome to the Vanderbilt University Archives!
Our goal here in the university archives is to preserve the historical memory of the university and to make this information available, primarily, to the Vanderbilt
community and, secondarily, to the world at large. This is achieved through the collection and preservation of historical Vanderbilt university records and artifacts.
We have created this site to provide easy access to a plethora of information regarding our department in hopes of making our presence better known in the community. To
help you navigate to the information you are interested in, we have divided the site into four main sections:
- Our official statement of policy and the distinction between our department and Medical Center Archives can be found in the
Archives Policy area.
- We accept, organize, and preserve collections of files from any university-side department. For policies and procedures regarding file transfers,
see the Transferring Your Material area.
- We also make the contents of our collections available through content listings called finding aids, which can be paper-based or, in some cases,
online. Explore the Finding Aids and Holdings area to learn more about the content and the accessibility to our collections.
- Our history as a department and current contact information are available in the About Us area.
If you have questions or comments about anything on this site or about the archives in general, please feel free to contact us!
