The Special Collections and University Archives Department is located in the General Library Building of the Jean and Alexander Heard Library. Open to the public, Special Collections provides access to primary resources to over 2,000 patrons yearly. It is administered and maintained by eight full-time staff members. Special Collections houses one of the finest twentieth-century Southern literature collections in the United States and is the center for the study of the Fugitive and Agrarian literary groups. Other collections include Southern history since the Civil War, Southern Culture, Women's Issues, Civil Rights, Religion, and the Performing Arts.
Special Collections is open to the public from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
