Job Descriptions 2007/2008

Undergraduate Library Assistant: Pay Rate $8.00/hr

Monday-Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; 9:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.
Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Saturday: noon - 2:00 p.m.; 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Sunday: 9:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.

Duties: Charge and discharge library materials, collect and record fines, give directional information, search books and overdues, shelve books, periodicals, maps and other materials. Tasks may also include filing and other miscellaneous duties as assigned (a supervisor will always be present). The position entails frequent public contact and interaction with library users. Students applying for these positions should have the ability to work independently and perform physical labor. Attention to detail and good customer service are essential!

Graduate Library Supervisor: Pay Rate $10.00/hr

Monday-Thursday: 9:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.
Friday: 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m.- 10:00 p.m.
Sunday: noon - 4:00 p.m.; 9:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.

Duties: Supervise library operations in the late evenings and weekends when regular full-time staff are not present. Grad supervisors are often responsible for the security of the library, including opening and/or closing the facility. The position requires specific knowledge skills, abilities, and experience involving library user assistance and maintenance of library records and collections. The grad supervisor assists regular staff in overseeing various ongoing or special projects and supervises undergraduate student staff and assists with their duties. Students applying for these positions should have the ability to work independently and perform physical labor. Attention to detail and good customer service are essential!
