Chemistry 250: Chemical Literature

Project Description

The class will be divided up into groups of 3. Each group will select a topic from the list of suggestions, or choose a topic of interest in chemistry or some related field: biochemistry, materials science, chemical physics, medicinal chemistry, environmental chemistry, geochemistry, etc. and research it, using the resources we discuss in class.

February 13 or 19 each group will need to turn in a brief (one or two paragraph) description of your chosen topic. If you later find there isn't enough information on the topic you chose, check with me and we can find something else. Each group will make an appointment to meet with me during the 10th or 11th weeks of class to discuss their poster content and design. In addition to the poster each group should turn in a bibliography of the sources used in preparing the poster composed according to the 3rd edition of the ACS Style Guide: Effective Communication of Scientific Information, S&E Reference QD8.5 .A25 2006

April 9 or 15 each group present their poster at a poster session to be held in the library lobby. You can use any appropriate format for your poster. Some guidelines for poster presentations can be found at
