Troubleshooting Guide for Common ScanPro Errors:
1) “PowerScan software will not allow me to
select a SaveAs location”
Reason: PowerScan’s default setting does not allow users to select a path for saving images.
Solution: Click on the “Restore Settings” icon (looks like a folder) and pick either “Reel” or “Nonreel”. The “Save” icon should now allow the user to select where images are saved.
2) “I am clicking on the roll film control,
but the film does not move”
1st Possible Reason: The film is not loaded correctly on the scanner.
Solution: Check to make sure that the film is loaded as shown in the diagram taped to the table.
2nd Possible Reason: The cable connecting the machine to the motor is loose.
Solution: Check to make sure that the cable behind the left side reel is securely in place.
3rd Possible Reason: The spindle on the left side reel is slightly loose. (This often allows the film to advance, but the film will then not rewind properly).
Solution: Pull the reel slightly forward and turn the spindle until the two tiny protruding bumps at the end will fasten into the scanner.
3) “The image goes blank while I am reading”
Reason: This is likely due to the power-save feature. The scanner lens powers down after a certain amount of time without input from the PowerScan software. (Because fiche and microcard don’t require use of the roll-film control, this happens more often when patrons use these media types.)
Solution: Click on the “Live” icon (looks like paper with arrows emanating in all directions. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, close and reopen the PowerScan software.
