Computers in the Library
The Learning Commons
The Learning Commons is the library's electronic classroom. It is available for general use whenever no classes are scheduled. Check today's list of room bookings to see today's Learning Commons availability. The Learning Commons has 18 computers, 3 flatbed scanners, and a printer. The computers are iMacs that run Windows 7 by default; you can reboot and change to Mac OS. In addition to Office 2007 and Web browsers, the computers have software for statistics, image and video editing, web site development, and disability access. All computers have CD/DVD burners as well. Here is list of all the computers and software in the Heard Library system.
iMacs
There are iMacs available for public use in the Fireside Reading Room, and in group study rooms 108 and 309.
Grand Reading Room
The Grand Reading Room is the large room on the main floor, near the Service Desk. There are 16 computers available for public use. Due to student requests, Stata is now installed on 8 of these computers.
Printing
You can print from any computer in the library (except for the iMac in room 309). Black and white printing costs 5¢ per page, and Color printing costs 25¢ per page. You can use Commodore Cash to pay for printing, or you can purchase print cards at the Service Desk in $1, $2 and $5 denominations.
There are printers in the Learning Commons and Fireside Reading Room for the computers in those rooms. The color printer is in the Curriculum Design Studio, room 302. Any PC in the library can print to the color printer. There is a single-sided and a double-sided printer available in the Grand Reading Room.
