Use quotation marks around a word or phrase to limit results to Web pages that contain only that form of the word or phrase.
- Single word example: if you search for the word "guides," the search results will include only pages that contain the word guides (but not the word guide).
- Phrase example: if you search for the phrase "curriculum lab," the search results will only include pages that contain that phase.
Do not use quotation marks around a word or phrase if you want your search to be less exact.
- This search is a little bit more forgiving when it comes to misspellings, word endings, accents, and synonyms. For example, if you (mis)spell curiculum (without quotation marks), you will still get search results. But if you misspell "curiculum" (inside quotation marks), you will not get any results (unless the word is misspelled in the same way on one of the Web pages you are searching).
- Single word example: if you search for the word guides (without quotation marks), the search results will include pages that contain guides and guide.
- Phrase example: if you search for the phrase curriculum lab (without quotation marks), the search results will include pages that contain curriculum and lab, both adjacent to one another--curriculum lab--and separate from one another (curriculum in one part of the page, lab in another part of the page).
