Workshops at Peabody Library

Library Research Clinics and Orientations

If you are a new or returning Peabody graduate student, please make plans to attend one of the Library Orientations that have been especially designed for your department.

Session objectives include:

  • Learning about the services that the Vanderbilt Libraries provide to students.
  • Learning about the library resources that are most relevant to your discipline.
  • Learning what the full-text retrieval options are for locating information.
  • Meeting your library liaison who wants to serve as your information partner while you are a Peabody student.

EndNote: An Introduction

EndNote is citation management software that can be used to store references and easily add them as citations and bibliographies to documents. In this hands-on workshop, we will provide a demonstration of the EndNote software and its basic features.

This workshop will introduce you to some basic HTML coding, and discuss the ways you can set up and maintain a Web site.

Basic Video Editing

A hands-on workshop; how to use our video cameras, how to transfer video to a Mac computer, how to do very basic editing in iMovie, how to burn movie to DVD. We will use the Flip cameras to make movies, iMovie to edit them, and then burn them to DVD.

Finding and Evaluating Useful Web Sites

Lee Ann Lannom, librarian and liaison to the T&L Dept, will lead this session:

Finding quality web sites for classroom use can be challenging. Come learn where some of the best web sites are for teachers to find lesson plans, online tools and reusable learning objects. We'll also discuss criteria to consider before incorporating online sources into lesson plans.
