The Peabody Library Curriculum Support Team offers a variety of instructional services to assist all Peabody students in developing information literacy skills.
Library instruction sessions address an array of research needs and can be held in either the Library or other campus locations. Each session is customized to the specific needs of the class based on consultation between the librarian and course instructor.
On this page is a list of the most commonly requested library instruction topics. The purpose of this list is to help you decide which topics you want addressed in the instruction session. The list is not exhaustive so if there are other topics you want included, please consult your Library Liaison.
How to use ACORN, the Library's catalog
How to find books, journals and other resources that the Vanderbilt Libraries own.
How to search exhaustively for a literature review
Learn how to develop a plan of action in locating and retrieving primary research material on a particular topic.

General interest databases
Learn about basic searching techniques in databases such as InfoTrac, Proquest, and Lexis Nexis.
Specialized databases
Most disciplines have specialized databases such as ERIC, PsycINFO, and Business Source Premier. These databases tend to provide better search results in regards to scholarly journal citations.
APA Citation Style
Learn how to cite resources including Internet sources, as well as developing reference in-text citations.
EndNote
Learn how you can use this software to manage citations and deploy them in your papers and other research.
Evaluating Web sites
Learn what the vital elements are for evaluating information retrieved from the Internet.
