Management in Chinese cultures. Princeton,
NJ Films for the Humanities & Sciences, 2001. 30 min.
In Chinese culture, western stresses on individualism, delegation and empowerment
are replaced by an emphasis on community and the family, a lean hands-on management
style and a Confucian deference to authority. Through interviews with innovators,
entrepreneurs and managers in both China and Hong Kong, this program explores
the effects these cultural differences have on the way business is done in
Chinese cultures.

Managing a diverse workplace: Understanding different
cultural values and styles. Princeton, NJ Films for the Humanities
& Sciences, 1990. 36 min.
This program refutes the melting pot theory, explaining that employees do
not-and should not be expected to-set aside their particular cultural values
when they come to work. The most successful organizations and managers are
those who understand diversity and seek to profit from it; this program presents
the views of African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans who
share their work experiences and demonstrate that what minorities want from
coworkers and management is no more than an open mind and a chance to make
good.

film demonstrates this by interviewing 9th graders. An honors student has her
own conclusion about the seasons and the phases of the moon.
