Peabody Library at Vanderbilt University receives government documents about education topics, most published by the Department of Education.
Location
Paper documents: the main floor of the library near the workstations. All can be checked out.
Videos, CD-ROMs, or diskettes: the Multimedia Room on the main floor, in two of the drawers (the second and third from the top) in the long filing cabinet. All can be checked out.
Microfiche: the Multimedia Room on the main floor (location details below). None can be checked out.
- ERIC Documents on microfiche are found in a number of places in the library system: cabinets in the AV Room (documents with accession numbers ED281000-most recently received); cabinets in the basement of the library (ED193172-ED280999); and cabinets in the Annex (documents before ED193172). Library staff will be happy to help you locate items in the collection.
- Non-ERIC microfiche are in the same filing cabinet in the AV Room where the video, CD-ROM, and diskette documents are stored. (The fiche are in the top drawer.)
Government documents can be found in other Vanderbilt libraries as well. Most of the government documents received by Vanderbilt University are kept in the Central Library, with a selection of others distributed to appropriate libraries on campus. The Law and Science libraries receive documents related to their collections.
Many recent government documents can be found online. Check Acorn, our Web catalog; follow one of the links below; or ask a library staff member for assistance in locating online government information.
