Checking Out an iBook

When you check out an iBook, you will receive the computer along with a laptop kit. The kit includes an AC adapter.

Batteries and AC Adapters

The iBooks contain batteries which have a life of up to 6 hours without recharging. You may also use the AC adapter which comes with the laptop kit.

Locations of Electrical Outlets in the Library

Availability will depend on whether the rooms are in use. And please be careful that electrical cords are not obstructing passageways.

Extent of Network Connectivity in the Library

The laptops should be able to maintain network connectivity throughout the library building; however, there are spots--especially in the far corners and some areas of the stacks--where the connection may drop. This drop in connection will only affect such things as web browsing, sending e-mail, and saving files to your VUSpace; it should not affect your use of word processing software.

Shutting Down

You do not need to shut down the iBook before you return it to someone at the service desk.
