Which Vanderbilt Library Laptops Are Currently Available?
Macs: Check Acorn for Macintosh MacBooks
PCs: Check Acorn for Dell Latitudes
(Equipment details are on the Acorn records.)
Vanderbilt students, faculty, and staff may check out either PC or Mac laptops at the Peabody Library. They may be used inside or outside the library and can be checked out overnight. We have Dell Latitude laptops running Windows XP with Office 2007. We also have MacBooks , running OS 10.4 and Office 2008. The MacBooks have DVD burners and iLife software such as iMovie, GarageBand, and iDVD. All laptops are configured to print to printers in the Peabody Library.
Note: All of our laptops are set up for the university's wireless network, and will not connect to other wireless networks.
Laptops can be checked out for 8 hours, and can be renewed once unless demand is high. A laptop can be checked out overnight if you pick it up after 6:00 pm. You can find out more at the Heard Library Circulating Laptops site.
Users may obtain a laptop from the service desk.
Do you have your own laptop and want to use it in the library? Read this information about network access in the Peabody Library.
