The following list highlights some of the videotapes found in the Curriculum Materials Center, giving a brief description followed by the Call Number. To browse the most complete list, go to ACORN and select the Call Number Browse tab; in the Call Number field type cd-rom edcl 1; under the Search Limits options select the following parameters from the pop-up menus:
- library: PEABODY
- shelving scheme: ALPHANUM
- location: CURR-LAB
When these are set, click the Browse Shelves button and use the forward button to move through the list.
Note: Curriculum Materials Center videos can be checked out of the library for viewing.
Algebra for Everyone - promotes the use of manipulatives in the algebra classroom to persuade students to become active participants in the learning of math concepts. Ma.T 1
Back on the Street: A Documentary on Teen Drug and Alcohol Abuse - provides facts about drugs and alcohol, consequences of use and abuse, and positive alternatives to drug use through interviews with drug users and those who have chosen to become drug-free. H.T 3
Changing the Rules: Teaching Math to Adult Learners - presents methods to make teaching and learning math more meaningful and exciting by linking classroom activities to real-life math. M.T 1
The Civil War (PBS Series) - a vivid and moving documentary of the war; from the battlefields to the homefronts, from the politicians and generals to the enlisted men and their families, and from the causes of the war to the surrender at Appomattox and Lincoln's assassination. SS.T 21 v.1-9
The Greenhouse Effect - a comprehensive look at the causes and effects of global warming due to the rise of greenhouse gases created by humans. S.T 6
Hinduism: An Ancient Path in the Modern World - an overview of the religion, its foundation, and its past and present influence on the world. SS.T 16
Kwanzaa: A Cultural Celebration - looks at the principles and practices of this African-American holiday. SS.T 12
The Life of Anne Frank - award-winning presentation of the life of Anne Frank through quotations from her diary, photos from family albums, and documentary footage. SS.T 17
Making Sense of the Sixties (PBS Series) - examines the meaning behind the events and changes brought about during the 1960's. SS.T 30-35
Max in Motion: Developing Language Skills - eight stories without words about how a little mouse named Max solves problems in his own special way; promotes problem-solving and thinking skills in students; and gives activities designed for whole language and English as a Second Language (ESL) classrooms. LA.T 1
A Tribute to Tim - dramatizes the story of a troubled, suicidal high school boy; also depicts a teenager's role in preventing the suicide of a friend; provides information on warning signs and seeking adult and professional help. SSp.T 5
When the White Men Came - describes the lives of major Indian tribes of North America when white men arrived on the continent. SS.T 11
