The Curriculum Materials Center, located on the third floor of the Peabody Library, is a unique resource center for students, student teachers, faculty and staff. The collection specializes in providing patrons with elementary and secondary school teaching aids and materials for all subject areas.

The types of materials range from activity books, curriculum guides, and hands-on items (referred to as manipulatives), to resourceful teaching ideas, tapes, and textbooks. The arrangement of material on the shelves is alphabetically by subject matter and then by type of material within that subject area.

Room 302

Assistance with the equipment in this room is available from the Curriculum Materials Center Office or the library service desk.

Room 307

Room 307 houses activity-related items, curriculum guides, manipulatives (hands-on), resource items (teaching suggestions and background subject material), audiotapes and videotapes, and textbook series for the teaching disciplines of:

All of the materials in this room may be checked out at the service desk on the main floor of the Peabody Library.

Room 308

The Curriculum Materials Center Office is located in Room 308. If you need help finding a test or have other questions regarding the Curriculum Materials Center or Youth collections, see a library staff member. Contact the lab by telephone (322-8226) or send a message to Lara Beth Lehman.

Room 308 contains tests (see our Test Collection Policy).

The laminator may also be found in this room. Patrons with items needing to be laminated should drop the materials off at the Public Services desk. A staff member will take your name, phone number, and email address. The materials will be laminated within a 24 hour turnaround. The patron will be notified when they are ready. The charge for laminating is .30 per foot plus tax.

Checkout & Circulation Policies

Books and manipulatives (items with barcodes) from Room 307 are checked out at the main service desk of the Peabody Library, as are tests in Room 308. CD-ROMs, located in the youth collection, may also be checked out at the service desk.*

Items such as curriculum guides on microfiche and publisher catalogs do not circulate.

Tests circulate for 7 days. The test collection policy indicates the groups to which the tests can circulate. (Note: Tests cannot be renewed and there is no grace period for overdue tests. Tests also cannot be recalled.)

All other items checked out through the regular service desk of the Library follow the loan periods for regular materials.
