A is for Angry: An Animal and Adjective Alphabet by Sandra Boynton. Workman Publishing, 1983. Animals, described alliteratively and drawn in the uproariously funny fashion unique to Boynton's work, introduce the letters of the alphabet. PE 1155 .B64 1983

ABC Book by C.B. Falls. Doubleday, 1923. An animal alphabet rendered in beautiful woodcuts. A very good beginning alphabet book because of its simplicity, clarity, and use of bright colors. PZ 7 .F197 Ab

ABC Dinosaurs by Jan Pienkowski. Lodestar Books, 1993. Dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures come to life in this spectacular pop-up alphabet book. PZ 7 .P59 Ab 1993B

The Accidental Zucchini: An Unexpected Alphabet by Max Grover. Browndeer Press, 1993. Each letter of the alphabet is represented by an unusual combination of objects, such as "macaroni merry-go-round," creating a colorful, fanciful, and humorous splash on each page. PE 1155 .G78 1993

Albert's Alphabet by Leslie Tryon. Atheneum, 1991. An inventive ABC book in which the clever goose, Albert, uses all his workshop supplies to build an alphabet for the school playground. PZ 7 .T7865 Al 1991

Alphabatics by Suse MacDonald. Bradbury Press, 1986. Letters of the alphabet are transformed and incorporated into twenty-six (26) illustrations so that, for example, the hole in "b" becomes a balloon. This is a most creative effort and perfect for beginning readers! PE 1155 .M3 1986

Alphabet City by Stephen T. Johnson. Viking, 1995. In an exceptionally creative approach, the author/artist presents the letters of the alphabet in an urban setting. Stunning paintings! PE 1155 .J645 1995

Aster Aardvark's Alphabet Adventures by Steven Kellogg. Morrow Junior Books, 1987. This is signature Kellogg with its alliterative text and pictures presenting highly humorous adventures of animals from A to Z. PZ 7 .K292 As 1987

A Caribou Alphabet by Mary Beth Owens. Dog Ear Press, 1988. A delightfully unique and more sophisticated alphabet book in which text and illustrations are blended beautifully and in accordance with nature. The book includes " A Caribou Compendium" by Mark McCullough in which he explicates the author/artist's text most entertainingly. Don't miss it! PE 1155 .O925 1988

Eating the Alphabet: Fruits and Vegetables from A to Z by Lois Ehlert. Harcourt Brace and Company, 1989. Bright, bright colors and bold lettering, trademarks of Ehlert's work, in this colorful alphabet book. PE 1155 .E35 1989

A Farmer's Alphabet by Mary Azarian. David R. Godine, Publisher, Inc., 1981. This is a 9" x 14" book of superb woodcuts depicting farm/rural life by using appropriate vocabulary words,such as "Bb. Barn." A classic ABC. PE 1155 .A92 1981

V for Vanishing: An Alphabet of Endangered Animals by Patricia Mullins. HarperCollins, 1993. An ABC featuring illustrations of endangered and extinct animals. A beautiful, timely, consciousness-raising book. QL 83 .M84 1994
