Additional Guidelines:

LOST ITEMS: The fees charged to users for lost items are determined by the following formula: cost of item + cataloging fee ($35) + billing fee ($15). If the price of the item cannot be determined, a minimum charge of $30 will be assessed as the cost of the item. If a lost item is found and returned within nine months of billing, all costs except the billing fee will be refunded. After nine months have passed, no fees will be refunded.

RECALLS/HOLDS: If a user needs to use a library item checked out to someone else, a recall may be placed. The current user is entitled to use the item undisturbed for 14 days. At that point, a recall notice will be sent to the borrowing user, indicating that the he or she has 7 days to return the item. Users are responsible for returning these items to the Music Library circulation desk by the due date indicated on the notice. Recall fines are $1.00 per day. When a recalled item arrives back in the library, the user will be notifed via e-mail that he or she has a hold available.

RENEWALS: Normal circulating books and scores may be renewed online by accessing your user record in ACORN and choosing the "renew item" command. Items may be renewed three times online, unless they are needed by another user. Reserves and sound recordings may not be renewed online; depending on demand, the Music Library staff may allow renewals at the circulation desk.

RETURNS: Normal circulating items (not sound or video recordings) may be returned to any library on campus. Sound and video recordings must be returned to the Music Library circulation desk. Do not place them in the drop box.
