Heard Library E-Journal Locator - E-journals are journals that are either partly or exclusively online. Vanderbilt subscribes to a wide range of these types of resources. After using the Periodical Title search in Acorn, search here to find out if we have an electronic subscription to a particular journal.

RILM

RILM (Répertoire internationale de littérature musicale) - RILM indexes journal articles, books, conference proceedings, and reviews, primarily in the areas of musicology, ethnomusicology, music theory, and analysis. Its coverage is international in scope, and it includes citations for many foreign language materials. RILM's coverage extends from 1966 through the present.*

IIMP

IIMPFT (International Index to Music Periodicals, Full-Text) - IIMP indexes approximately 500,000 articles from 430 different music periodicals, and features full-text articles from 110 of these periodicals. This database includes citations to both scholarly and popular music periodicals, and covers topics such as music education, performance, music theory and composition, musical theatre, ethnomusicology, and popular music. Almost all records in IIMP come from English language periodicals.*

JSTOR

JSTOR - Founded in 1995, JSTOR is a non-profit, interdisciplinary, scholarly archive. It features complete runs of scholarly journals, with articles digitized into pdfs. JSTOR currently contains 57 music journals, including Cambridge Opera Journal, Journal of the American Musicological Society (JAMS), Early Music, Music Educators' Journal, and Perspectives of New Music.*

NOTE: JSTOR does not contain the most current issues of a journal. There is typically a 4-5 year embargo, depending on journal title. If you need to find a more current issue, look in the browsing periodicals section of the library, or ask for help at the Service Desk.

ProQuest - ProQuest Research Library is not solely music-related, but provides indexing, abstracts and selected full text or full images of articles in a wide range of magazines and journals. It includes general interest and news publications as well as selected scholarly journals.*

RIPM

RIPM (Répertoire internationale de la presse musicale) - RIPM provides citations for articles written in scholarly and popular music periodicals between 1800 and 1950. RIPM currently contains more than 500,000 citations, and it indexes many primary sources from the 19th century. This database references mainly European publications.*

Historical New York Times

Historical New York Times - A full-text database containing the complete contents of The New York Times from 1851 through 2006. This database is particularly helpful for locating concert reviews from performances in New York City, as well as concert advertisements and obituaries.*
