Search Tips
The search presented performs a keyword search of
electronic journal or research database titles and descriptions
depending upon which resource you are using. You may simply type
in a keyword or word phrase and click the "Search" button.
The system will then display a list of electronic journals or research
databases whose titles contain that keyword or words you have entered.
Common "stop" words, such as "a","an","and","by","for","from","in","of","the",
and "to" will be skipped. When using the search box, please
do not use the Boolean operators (OR, NOT). The Boolean operator
(AND) is implied, therefore < there is no need to use it in your
search.
You may use an asterisk (*) as a wildcard to tell the system
to search for words that begin with the stem you specify. For example,
use comput* to retrieve all titles or descriptions that include
the words computer, computers, and computing, etc.
Puncuation marks, non-alpha characters (such as "&"
or "/") and/or diacritics in titles or descriptions will
be ignored by the search engine. If your search results in an error
message please do not hesitate to report
it to us.
Search Examples:
Search: journal chemistry - finds all
resources that have both of the words "journal" and "chemistry"
in the title or database description.
Search: journal comput* - finds all resources that have the
word "journal" and the resources that have the word "comput*"
as a word stem in the title or database description.
Search: weider's muscle fitness - finds Joe Weider's Muscle
& Fitness - ignores the apostrophe and ampersand.
Note: searching for Weiders without the apostrophe will return
no hits.
