Metro Nashville - Mapping Services and Geographic Information Systems - This public access service allows you to view property, zoning, topographic and planimetric data. In addition, it allows you to search the database by owner, address or parcel number. Vanderbilt has an agreement with Metro Public works concerning the sharing of data. American Factfinder - Quick and interactive access to summary data, reports, and maps from the Census Bureau.

Census Cartographic Boundaries - US Census Bureau access to free downloadable cartographic boundary shapefiles by geography type by state.

ESRI Census Cartographic Boundaries - ESRI access to US Census Bureau free downloadable cartographic boundary shapefiles by geography type by county.

ICPSR Historic Cartographic Boundaries - ICPSR (Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research) access to historic Census TIGER/line files, 1990 - 2006.

The National Map Seamless Server - US Geological Survey server providing free downloads of national base layers as well as other geospatial data layers.

Geodata.gov US Maps & Data - Web portal for Federal Government produced geospatial data including state and local geographic data.

GIS Data Depot - provides free GIS data and GIS software products for downloading, or allows purchase of the data of your choice on CD-ROM. Data is arranged geographically.

Federal Geographic Data Comittee- National Geospatial Data Clearinghouse, a collection of spatial data servers that have digital geographic data primarily for use in GIS, searchable through a single interface.

National Atlas of the United States (USGS) - Find and make maps that capture and depict the patterns, conditions, and treds of American life using data from a collection of Federal organizations.

National Atlas Raw Data Download - Data layers that comprise the National Atlas made available free for download, most at a 1:2,000,000 scale.

World

ESRI World Basemap Data - Download ESRI Basemap data for use in GIS software. Features include country boundaries, cities, rivers, roads, etc. Select by area of interest.

The National Map Seamless Server - US Geological Survey server providing free downloads of international base layers as well as other geospatial data layers.

Digital Chart of the World (DCW) - a 1:1,000,000 scale geographic database. It contains geographic features, attribute data, descriptive text, and metadata that can be used in conjunction with GIS software. It was originally produced by ESRI for the U.S. Defense Mapping Agency and distributed on CD.
