The center is located in Room 305 at the Peabody Library. The director of Vanderbilt's CIC is Jacob Thornton. You can send him a message or reach him by phone at 615.343.7542.
Science and Engineering Library Map Room
The Map Room is located in room SC3210 in the Science and Engineering Library in the Stevenson Center. There are two workstations located in the Map Room that have ArcView 9.2 with extensions installed on them. For help with the software please ask at the service desk or consult the ArcGIS Introductory Tutorial produced by the University of Arkansas. In addition, there are a number of GIS books and manuals available for check out. The library also has various data sets available on CDROM.
The librarian for the map collection is Rick Stringer-Hye. You can send him an email at richard.s.stringer-hye@vanderbilt.edu or reach him at 615.343.4395.
Spatial Analysis Research Lab
The Spatial Analysis Research Laboratory (SARL) is located in Garland Hall room 10.It is an advanced Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) facility intended for faculty, research staff, and advanced graduate students who are experienced GIS/RS users, with the purpose of providing high-powered workstations and mass-storage systems for analyzing large datasets and executing computationally-intensive geospatial procedures.
The lab is directed by Prof Steve Wernke (Anthropology).
Administration of the lab is managed by an ad hoc committee in the Department of Anthropology. To contact SARL staff send an email to sarl@vanderbilt.edu
A&S Computer Labs
The Microcomputer Labs in Garland 119, Stevenson Center 2200, and Bransomb (Lupton 1010) have ArcView available on the Windows systems in the labs. Hours of operation in the A&S Labs can be found here: http://www.vanderbilt.edu/cas/computers
You may reach the labs at 615.322.6950 or send an e-mail to staff at microlab@vanderbilt.edu.
Government Information

Send a message to Larry Romans with questions or call Government Information Services at 615.322.2838.
Department of Anthropology
The department has faculty and students who use GIS for teaching and research. They also maintain GIS software and resources in the departmental computer lab. Dr. Estrada-Belli teaches ANTH 280 Introduction to Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing in which students are introduced to both GRASS GIS, a Unix based GIS software, and ArcGIS.
Contact Dr. Francisco Estrada-Belli with questions.
Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences
The E&ES department has faculty and students who use GIS for teaching and research. They also maintain GIS software and resources in the departmental computer lab.
Contact Dr. John Ayers with questions.
There are several other academic departments and units on campus that utilize GIS technology including departments in the School of Engineering, VIPPS, Economics, Human Oganizational Development, Campus Planning, and Plant Services.
