The Library’s first responsibility is to our students and faculty. Several rooms at Peabody Library can be reserved for classes or group study. The Grand Reading Room, the Fireside Reading Room, and the Ground Floor Reading Room are prioritized for individual study. Following are policies and instructions for reserving rooms. If you have questions about these room use policies, please contact Karen Swoopes.
(Locations and policies for study rooms and carrels throughout the Heard Library system can be found on the Study Rooms and Carrels in the Libraries page.)
Group Study Rooms
To request use of group study room 003, 004, 108, 110, 111, 114, 305-A, 305-B, or 309, please send us an e-mail or call 615-322-8098.
Groups of two or more have priority for group study room use over individuals. If those who reserved a room do not show up, the room reservation is forfeited at 15 minutes past the beginning reservation time. Please return the room to its normal configuration following use.
During the exam period, the group study rooms are not available for reservation, but are available only on a first-come, first-served basis.
Seminar Room 303
Room 303 is a seminar room that can accommodate up to 25 people. Some multimedia equipment is available. A phone is also available by request. During the exam period Room 303 may only be reserved by a faculty member, who can send us an e-mail or call 615-322-8098 to do so.
Learning Commons (Room 304)
To request use of the Learning Commons (Room 304), please send us an e-mail or call 615-322-8098.
Note: There are some restrictions on the use of the Learning Commons; see the main Learning Commons page for details.
Fireside Reading Room
While the Peabody Library Fireside Reading Room has been used recently for meeting space, this space will now return to its original function and serve students, faculty, and staff as a quiet space for reading and studying. We regret any inconvenience this may cause but wish to assist you in your search for a new space.
Alternative meeting space on Peabody campus, main campus, and locally may be available via the contact listing below:
