Wireless Access

Wired Access

The Peabody Library offers wired access to the campus network. Patrons with properly configured laptops and network cables can use network ports located on the main floor of the library.

The ports are in a number of locations on the main floor: under the middle tables on either side of the Reference/Periodicals Room, near the comfortable seating in the Current Periodicals area, under the middle table between the central study space and the current periodicals, and in front of the sofa closest to the current periodicals (ask for assistance if you can't find the ports). Ports are also scattered about the Fireside Reading Room on the first floor.

You will need to provide your own network cable; help with configuring your laptop (if configuration is necessary) can be obtained from the Information Technology Services (ITS) Help Desk.

Wireless Access

The Peabody Library also offers wireless network access. Patrons with wireless-ready laptops and the appropriate network interface card will be able to communicate on the network within the coverage area. (Network connectivity outside of the library is not guaranteed.)

Note: To gain access to the wireless network, you will need to obtain the appropriate SSID. Browse to Information Technology Service's SSID page for instructions on configuring your laptop to use the SSID. You will be prompted for your VUNet ID when you attempt to connect to this page. You will also need to register your agreement with a statement of computer privileges and responsibilities before accessing the configuration instructions.

Support for students using wireless technology is available at the ITS HelpDesk.

Wireless access is available in a number of the campus libraries; for more details, see the Heard Library's Network and Wireless Access page.
