General information about access to the Peabody Library and other Vanderbilt libraries can be found on the Heard Library Access and Use Policies page.
Parking
These are the locations of the handicapped parking spaces near the Peabody Library:
- one in front of the Susan Gray School (on Magnolia Circle, before the Kennedy Center; look for the Kennedy Center on this map)
- four in front of the Mayborn Building (on Magnolia Circle, after the Peabody Library, past the Payne Building; look for the Mayborn Building on this map)
- two in front of Environmental Health and Safety (on the 21st Avenue side of the Peabody Library; look for West Drive on this map)
Patrons in wheelchairs or otherwise unable to climb steps should park in one of the handicapped spaces in front of Environmental Health and Safety. Access to the library is by elevator (see the "Physical Access to Peabody Library" section that follows).
Physical Access to Peabody Library
There is a wheelchair-accessible entrance to the Peabody Library on the 21st Avenue side of the building through Environmental Health and Safety. Persons needing assistance should ring the bell and someone will come to activate the elevator. Please check at the service desk if you need further assistance while you are in the library.
Service Assistance
- We can retrieve books, journals, and other Peabody Library materials and hold them at the library service desk. Please call 322-8098 for more information.
- We can photocopy documents for disabled patrons with advance notice. We will need your Vendacard to charge the copies. Please call 322-8098 for more information.
Technology
Font Size on Public Workstations
Browser font sizes can be enlarged. Open a browser window and choose View from the menu bar at the top of the page. From the dropdown menu choose Text Size. A submenu will appear with font sizes that range from Largest to Smallest. Please ask a staff member if you would like assistance with configuring the browser.
Other accessibility features are available available, such as a magnifier, narrator, and onscreen keyboard. Please ask a staff member for assistance in using these features.
