Non-Print Media

Contact Special Collections to make arrangements for research in non-print media.


Requests for limited reproduction of material is available when such duplication can be done without injury to materials and when duplication does not violate donor agreements or copyright law. Copies cannot be given to other institutions without prior permission of the Department Head.

A Reproduction Request Form may be completed and submitted to the staff member on duty at any time during the day, but at least fifteen minutes before closing. Requests for duplicating certain materials may require approval by the Department Head.

Due to staff availability and/or duplication request backlogs, copies may not be immediately available. Large duplication jobs may need to be mailed.

Special Collections staff are available to answer general questions about the collections and the history of Vanderbilt University and Peabody College. Questions requiring extensive research are beyond the scope of this service.

Service Fees


Standard domestic shipping rate is $5.00. International shipping is $6.00. Large copy jobs are charged according to weight.


20¢/page.  After the first 100 pages, a service fee of $20 is assessed for each additional 100 pages (pro-rated). A second copy request submitted by the same patron within 30 days of the first request is considered part of the same copy job. All orders requiring shipping must be prepaid.

Contact Special Collections for quotes on photographic or audio-visual material.


An appropriate credit line or citation must identify materials from Special Collections. The recommended credit line format is as follows: [Name of Collection], Vanderbilt University Special Collections and Archives, Nashville, Tennessee.

A copy of the publication, offprint, or tearsheets (or xerographic copies of title page and pages using Special Collections materials) is requested for the Archives record.
