Vanderbilt University Jean & Alexander Heard Library Central Library

The TeleVU Library Channel Service
(What We Can Broadcast)

TeleVU is Vanderbilt's cable television service. In addition to regular cable channels, Vanderbilt Video Productions and the Heard Library each have a channel on TeleVU.

Government Information and Media Services can broadcast material on DVD or videotape on TeleVU's Library Channel (channel 7). The library can only broadcast videos for which it has purchased broadcast rights.

Central library currently owns broadcast rights for all titles distributed by Ambrose/BBC, Bullfrog Films, California Newsreel, and Films for the Humanities, as well as broadcast rights for selected PBS titles. Faculty members may ask the GIMS staff to request rights for other videos they want to broadcast.

Items purchased with broadcast rights will have a note in the Acorn record reading "Includes closed-circuit broadcast rights." You can search for such items using the keywords "broadcast rights" in Acorn's DVD/Video search.

Please email Brian Boling with any questions or requests for Library Channel showings.
