Study Space

Study space is very limited in the Central Library. Available study spaces include:

  • Group study room on the fourth floor (Room 4F0). It includes a small round table and four chairs. It is open to students on a first-come, first-served basis. Check-out the key to this room at the Central Circulation desk.
  • Group study room on the sixth floor (Room 612C) entered from the Payne reading room. It holds a conference table with six chairs and a whiteboard. It is open to students on a first-come, first served basis. Check-out the key to this room at the Central Circulation desk.
  • Carrels, located throughout the library. If you qualify, you may reserve a carrel for study use. You may also use any unoccupied carrel, however, you may be asked to vacate at the request of the person who reserved it.
  • The Payne Room Study Space (formerly Microform and Media Center) on the 6th floor (south side) has tables and carrels for individual and group study.
  • The Reference Room just past the Reference Desk has a number of large tables suitable for quiet individual or group study.
  • Government Information has study space in its Reference area.
  • There is a study area with lounge style seating on the 6th floor opposite the main elevator and restrooms.
  • There are tables for group study in the Arts Collection on the 8th floor.
