Social
Sciences Citation Index (SSCI)
is a multidisciplinary database that covers 1,730
of the most significant social sciences journals spanning
60 disciplines, as well as selectively covering items
from over 5,800 science and technical journals related
to the social sciences. Each citation also includes
a list of references cited in the source article.

Journal
Citation Reports (JCR) provides a systematic
and objective means of determining the relative importance
of science and social sciences journals within their respective
subject categories. The Science edition of JCR covers
more than 5,500 leading journals; Social Sciences edition
1,700 leading journals. Includes journals from 3,300 publishers
(60 countries) and covers approximately 200 disciplines.

Journal
Impact Factor
The number of current citations to articles published in
a specific journal in a two year period divided by the total
number of articles published in the same journal in the
corresponding two year period.

Enter ISI Web of Knowledge
- Click on Journal Citation Reports
- Choose either Science or Social Science edition and
the year.
- Choose Search for a specific journal, then click Submit.
- You can then search for a journal title (or search
by ISSN, abbreviated title or title keywords).
The Journal Summary List page will show the impact factor
for your selected journal. For additional analysis and
explanation of impact factor and other measures, click
the journal's title.
To view the impact factor for a group of journals
by subject category:

Enter ISI Web of Knowledge
- Click on Journal Citation Reports
- Choose either Science or Social Science edition and
the year
- Choose View a group of journals by Subject Category,
then click Submit
- The Subject Category Selection page will let you search
by one or more subject categories
- Select a subject category (example: sociology), check
View Journal Data then as the option to sort journals
by select Impact Factor, then click Submit.
The journal summary list page will show the impact factor
of the journals in your selected category or categories.
For additional analysis and explanation of impact factor
and other measures, click the journal's title.
