The Central Library has 13 laptops available for check out by students, faculty, and staff. Below you'll find the answers to the FAQs for laptop checkout.

Who Can check out a laptop?

Students, faculty and staff with a valid Vanderbilt University ID and a valide email address may check out a laptop.

How long can it be checked out? Can it be renewed? Can I have it out overnight?

Laptops are checked out for eight (8) hours and many not be renewed.
Laptops can go out overnight if checked out after 6:00p.m. If the library is closing before 7:00p.m., overnight checkout can begin one hour before closing time.

Are there overdue fines?


Yes. Overdue fines are $7.50 per hour and are non-refundable. So please turn the laptop in on time.

What software is available on the laptops?


All library laptops are loaded with the Microsoft Office Suite, wich includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additionally, you will have full access to the Internet via wireless connection.

What kind of laptops are available?

Dell Latitude C810, Latitude D600, and D610.

How do I save my work?

There is an icon on the desktop that will connect you to VU-Space where you may save your work. You may also use chose to use a USB 'thumb drive'
