Central Library Cancellations, 2004/2005

The rising cost of journal, serial, and electronic subscriptions and the four percent increase in our overall materials budget for 2004/05 indicated a budget shortfall for the year. In the spring, the Central Library in collaboration with A&S departments and faculty compiled a list of proposed cancellation titles. These titles were posted (by subject lists as well as by title) on the Cancellation webpage; comments were requested from faculty, the Collection Development Advisory Group, and the academic community.

We greatly appreciate the work of the faculty during the review process and the comments we received regarding the importance of some of the titles proposed for cancellation. The entire process was a difficult task but we believe that we have identified the titles that could be cancelled with the least amount of negative impact on our resources.

The cancellation web pages are being edited to reflect actual cancellations (in some cases conversion to online only subscription) effective with 2005 renewals. The comment forms are still available so please do not hesitate to let us know if you need any of the cancelled titles and are not able to access online or acquire through Interlibrary Loan.
