Software and Equipment for Visually Impaired Library Users

The Central Library has adaptive workstations available for the visually impaired. They are all located at Government Information and Media Services, at the rear of the 4th floor. The workstations are equipped with headphones and are labeled ADAPTIVE WORKSTATIONS. They provide access to the following software under the START --> All Programs menu:

JAWS software is a speech synthesizer. It allows information from the screen to be read aloud.

ZoomText is software designed to assist vision-impaired computer users by enlarging (2X to 16X) everything on the screen.

There is also a ClearView magnifier and monitor that provides magnification of printed text.
