A frequent question from students is, "What does it mean when the library catalog record refers me to
the stacks?" The stacks are where the majority of books are located in the Central Library.
In general, if a book is not shelved in a special location (or checked out!), it will be found on the 2nd,
3rd, 5th, 7th or 8th floors.
