Renewing Central Library Materials

Materials can be renewed at any Library or users can renew their own material interactively through ACORN. From the ACORN home page, select "Account Login". Key in your user ID and PIN or your VUNET ID and Password to login to your account. Select "Renew my materials" to access the renewal option. You can also get to the renewal option on Acorn by selecting "Renew Materials" under the Library Services header on the Heard Library Home page: http://www.library.vanderbilt.edu.

Renewal limits are in place on all circulating material. When your renewal limit is reached, you may bring the materials back to the Library and they can be discharged and checked back out to you if no one else needs the item. When items are checked out at the Library, the date due is stamped on the date due slip in the front of the book. Fines accrue at the rates defined on the Circulation policies page for each type of material. Most, but not all, circulating materials have grace periods. Check the grace period for the type of material you are borrowing. After the grace period, fines accrue from the ORIGINAL due date.

Want to avoid overdue fines? It's possible if you have an email address! If you request that your library notices be sent email, you will receive a notice on materials you have checked out one week before they are due (Due Date Reminder Notice) and again on the date they are due(Due Today Notice)! Ask at Circulation to have your address updated or use the email request form on the web.
